Event Description
This is a CALL TO ACTION for the Austin community! Let's represent our neighborhood at the One Chicago for All Mayoral Candidates Forum, hosted by members of the One Chicago for All Alliance. The forum will be an opportunity for Chicago neighborhoods to see how candidates will respond to the issues that matter to our community.  Despite Chicago’s strong economic growth, its benefits do not span equitably across the city. The effort that has helped maintain our ranking as an economic engine systematically fails to generate investments that build and sustain neighborhood economics, promote livable wage employment opportunities and grow the wealth of residents. At this Forum, candidates will be provided with an opportunity to present their ideas on neighborhood access in the following areas: Careers, job opportunities and effective training Creation of functional and accessible capital for investing in neighborhoods Stable and affordable housing Quality and equitably-funded education Sanctuaries and support for immigrants Reformed policing FREE Bus Transportation to the UIC Forum will depart at 10am from the office of Austin Coming Together at 5049 W. Harrison, Chicago IL. Seats are limited, so when registering, PLEASE be sure to indicate if you'll be using the provided transportation or making your own way to UIC Forum. For more information, contact Jose Abonce, Lead Organizer at jabonce@austincomingtogether.org, 773-417-8615. The One Chicago for All Alliance is a group of 30 community-based organizations and workforce development agencies representing 26 Chicago neighborhoods with a combined population of over one million residents. Though our communities face unique challenges, we are united in our vision: our neighborhoods, and the residents who live in them, deserve our investment. Remember! Election day is Tuesday, February 26, 2019.
